Teaching/Coaching Socials:

You deserve to love your voice.

Your voice is an important part of your personal identity. The tone, flexibility, and strength of the voice manifest differently for each person. I love helping people find and express their unique selves through their voice, physically and emotionally.

My teaching philosophy is guided by core values of passion, curiosity, a sense of humor, and kindness. I believe in building exceptional voices with precision, but without pressure. I do this by providing students with opportunities for experimentation, guided exploration, and accurate and accessible information about how the voice works.

Singing

My singing voice specialty is in the development of voice technique for contemporary commercial music (rock, pop, country, indie, folk, etc.), musical theater, and experimental singing.

I am experienced in teaching people across the lifespan. My experience as a voice and upper airway specialized speech-language pathologist allows me to help singers who have voice injuries and/or chronic voice challenges.

A healthy balance between voice science and voice artistry is at the heart of my teaching. Rote adherence to a static set of voice exercises serves no one well. I encourage my students to understand why I am asking them to perform certain voice tasks, not just how. In this way, I am able to build confident, independent singers who have mastery over their vocal future.

Speaking and Communication

My speaking and communication coaching focuses on developing a resonant, confident speaking voice and clear, effective communication for real-world interactions.

I work with people who want to sound more at ease and expressive, as well as those who feel misunderstood in conversation. This includes individuals who are perceived as overly forceful or who have trouble aligning their intent with how their communication is received.

My approach balances technical skill and thoughtful self-awareness. Rather than relying on scripts or one-size-fits-all strategies, I help clients understand how voice use and delivery shape communication, building skills that feel authentic and sustainable.

How my studio works

  • I see private students on Fridays and Saturdays, generally in the first half of the day.
  • Lessons are an hour in length.
  • We schedule as we go. I generally see people every 2-3 weeks.
  • This is generally a best fit for people who are independent with practice and are comfortable playing with new skills between lessons.
  • I use Zoom when teaching remotely.

Looking for voice therapy?

Voice therapy is physical therapy for the voice. In voice therapy, I will help you rehabilitate your voice from an injury, reduce chronic hoarseness and voice strain, and help you get the most out of your voice if you have a chronic illness such as voice tremor, vocal fold paralysis, or muscle tension dysphonia.

In addition to traditional voice therapy, I am able to provide treatment for Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion (PVFM)/Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD), chronic cough, and irritable larynx syndrome.

  • As a part of my voice therapy service, I maintain the required evaluation report, plan of care, and treatment notes. I can provide you with a receipt that contains the information necessary for you to submit the cost to a health care savings/flexible spending account or to your insurance company, if you have out-of-network coverage. I do not maintain any relationships with insurance companies and am not involved in any aspect of insurance submission.
  • If you are on Medicare, I am unfortunately prohibited by law from seeing you for voice or speech therapy because I am not an independent Medicare Provider. Medicare regulations prohibit me from accepting private payment for services that are covered under Medicare. If you would like to work with me, I would be happy to see you at Beth Israel. Our office can be reached at (617) 632 – 7400.
